Heidi Lise - Three Free July 2019
Born 17 March 1971 in Johannesburg to Nico van Rensburg and Afrikaans Literature PHD and super creative mom, Annetjie van Rensburg. With three brothers, she was the last and the only girl.
Started her ballet career at The Art, Ballet and Music School in Houghton. Joined PACT Ballet for 3 years after which she studied Interior Design at Wits Technikon.
At the technikon she had painting as a subject. She worked at Retail Interior designers for many years hereafter as designer on interior and architectural projects.
She started painting earnestly again 2 years ago. Her art teacher Jeandre Mariner spotted her talent and in every painting grew her own style.
"Beauty inspires me, be it landscapes, seascapes or figurative images. I look for colour, detail and mood. I work solely in acrylic, building layers and dry-brush shading, with soft overlays. I leave white edges and under paint colours brightening the ensemble where it becomes alive. I endeavour to create a painting from a photograph, not a copy."
Heidi’s work is also indicative of the 'Steam Punk' genre as seen in her figure studies. This is a style of design and fashion that combines historical elements with anachronistic technological features inspired by science fiction. The essence of steam punk is homage to vintage fashion with a modern, sassy twist…
